Retainers

We will advise what we feel is the best course of action for you to pursue regarding your third molars. Generally if there is space available for the third molars, they are upright, erupted, and are not decayed or causing any soft tissue problems we advise leaving them. If any of the above are violated, then generally we would advise removal.

You must wear your retainer(s) as prescribed. Retainers that are in the mouth will not be lost or broken (or eaten by animals wild or domestic). Teeth continue to move and shift throughout life as the tissues supporting them change. Use of your retainer as prescribed will gently remind these teeth to stay where they were placed. Failure to comply with retainer wear invites relapse and movement of the teeth. Keep retainers away from pets (wild and domestic) and napkins.
